Bob (can you believe a builder called Bob?) was punctual and his attention to detail was excellent. Any concerns we had as we went along were handled promptly and professionally. We also did a major renovation – an extension of lounge, new kitchen, bathroom, large deck.

In particular, Bob was great in overseeing his workers and sub contractors. He followed their work up and ensured the quality was high.

We have an old Queenslander on acreage and Goodwood recently did some work for us. We wanted a large area closed in underneath our house to provide a second living area and a storeroom.

We chose Goodwood for a number of reasons.

– We had previously met Bob & Val, who own Goodwood, through some mutual friends who were impressed with the quality of their work so we asked them to quote;

– Their quote was competitive; and

– We were impressed with how quickly Bob understood what we wanted and he gave us both some good ideas and good advice even before we accepted their quote.

In terms of the work that Goodwood did for us, I’d have to say that we couldn’t be happier. Like everyone, we made some changes on the run, including what materials we’d use. Goodwood again were able to provide a few ideas and source exactly what we wanted in keeping with the style of our house, adding value, without blowing our budget.

I have a pretty demanding job and I suppose I have high expectations of people doing work for me, but I was very happy with Goodwood. For example, we noticed every day that Bob and the team cleaned up their work area and packed their tools away to minimize the disruption to our household. While this doesn’t necessarily make the job better, to me it reflects their attention to detail.

After the living area was finished, our front verandah also needed some attention. We had some rot in the railings and exposed ends of the floorboards, so we wanted them replaced. Goodwood weren’t able to source the exact railing from their normal suppliers or others, so Bob made up the required sections on site. The Goodwood boys also noticed the original joists hadn’t been sealed properly to prevent rotting and so did that as part of the job.

One final thing that I thought added to the experience was that we always knew what was going on because they made a point of keeping us up-to-date.

In short, Goodwood gave us high quality service and workmanship at a reasonable price.
